This week - TOUGH TIMES

“You’re going to be sorry, Daddy.” Patrice spat angrily.
“And you’re going to bed without supper, young lady.”
“I hate you.” she whispered.
“What’s that?” He asked.
“Nothing.”
Tomorrow, she thought. Tomorrow, things would be different. She had seven whole dollars she could spend. Daddy would be sorry.
The next day Jerry Groehler had forgotten all about the incident with his daughter. The front door bell rang and he answered. Ian Folke, a retired man from down the street, was outside. He raised a gun. The last thing Jerry heard before the shot was, “I’m sorry, Mr. Groehler…times are tough.”
